Animal Welfare and Conservation

First, a note on the distinction between animal welfare and conservation. Welfare focuses on the individual animal: its pain, stress, and living conditions. Conservation looks at populations and species at large, i.e. habitats, numbers, whether they'll still exist in a hundred years.

Both fields are chronically underfunded. And there's a clear lack of collective awareness and organized effort.

I've created each of the guides to explain the fields to someone with no context. In these I've tried to cover why it matters and concrete steps / things you can do to help. There are, of course, many other areas within animal welfare and conservation that deserve urgent support, but for now I've only written on the ones I understand and have experience in.

Miscellaneous

Here are (unorganized) links from the old website. It's just a random mix of useful/interesting references across various interests. I'll consolidate these into detailed guides & organized notes at some point in the future.
